Description:

Join us in the Spectator boardroom on Friday 10 August for a very special distillers’ lunch with Kathy Caton, MD of multi-award-winning Brighton Gin and Amanda Saurin, leading Sussex apothecary and botanical distiller.

Brighton Gin was voted Best Gin in the UK at the People’s Drinks Awards and is handmade beside the seaside and boasts fresh orange and lime peel, coriander, angelica and liver-friendly milk thistle amongst its botanicals. Kathy Caton – broadcaster, restaurateur and now distiller – will present Brighton Gin neat, with tonic and in a cocktail whilst also explaining how and why she helped co-found Brighton’s first (legal) distillery.

Amanda Saurin, plantswoman, distiller, herbalist and owner of Fierce Botanics will present her brand new Apothecary Tonic (made from her own organic roses, Cinchona bark, spruce and fir to name but a few ingredients) and introduce the process of selecting and blending plants to make delicious pure botanical drinks.

Drinks editor Jonathan Ray will be on hand, too, to introduce a number of fine wines from Villa Maria – New Zealand’s most awarded winery – as guests enjoy a fine four course cold lunch provided by our partners Forman & Field. Wines will include the 2017 Villa Reserve Clifford Bay Sauvignon Blanc, the 2016 Villa Single Vineyard Keltern Chardonnay, the 2016 Villa Cellar Selection Pinot Noir and the 2016 Villa Cellar Selection Merlot.

This promises to be a fascinating and hugely enjoyable occasion, so book now to avoid disappointment.
