Ch. Pichon Baron is one of just two 2ième Grand Cru Classés in Pauillac and, quite simply, one of the great wines of the world. Owned since 1987 by AXA Millésimes, the vineyard-owning arm of AXA Insurance, Ch. Pichon Baron is managed by Christian Seely who, incidentally, also oversees for AXA such celebrated estates as Ch. Suduiraut in Sauternes, Domaine de l’Arlot in Burgundy, Quinta do Noval in the Douro Valley and Disznókó in Tokaj.

Wine is in Christian’s blood and we could have no better guide as we learn about the skill of blending and the importance of terroir by tasting the estate’s second and third wines – Les Tourelles de Longueville and Les Griffon de Pichon – as well as mighty Pichon Baron itself, all made by the same winemaking team and all from the excellent 2016 vintage.
