Description:
Ben Howkins is one of the great figures of the British wine trade and the sherry lunch he hosted in the Spectator boardroom last year is still talked about by those readers lucky enough to be there.
As author of Sherry: Maligned, Misunderstood Magnificent, Ben knows all there is to know about this glorious subject and will wittily and authoritatively guide us through a range of sherries from Bodegas Hidalgo which has been producing fine Manzanilla and a range of aged sherries in their bodegas in Sanlúcar de Barrameda since 1792. Now in the eighth generation of family ownership, Bodegas Hidalgo is committed to crafting the very best quality wines that are true to their origins and heritage. We will discuss the differences between the iconic Bodegas Hildago La Gitana Manzanilla, Amontillado, Oloroso & PX sherry explaining their methods of production and suggesting the most suitable food matches as we taste a selection of carefully chosen half bottle (or 50cl) examples.
£100 for four 37.5cl or 50cl bottles of sherry, a copy of Sherry: Maligned, Misunderstood Magnificent by Ben Howkins, tasting notes and access to our exclusive live Zoom masterclass, tasting and Q&A.
