Description:
Young Christians are flocking to traditional Anglican and Catholic services, embracing solemnity and mysticism rather than the trendy platitudes of the Boomer generation. Why is this happening – and could we be on the verge of an unexpected recovery of the sacred?
Join us for a special evening of discussion in the glorious and beautifully lit surroundings of St Bartholomew the Great, the oldest parish church in the City of London.
This unique gathering will be enriched by Catholic and Anglican motets sung throughout the evening by the renowned choir of St Barts, evoking the beauty and mystery that is drawing a new generation back to tradition.
Following the discussion, guests are warmly invited for drinks and refreshments in the cloisters – to continue the conversation.
Speakers include the Rector of St Barts, the Revd Marcus Walker; the Provost of the London Oratory, Fr Julian Large; the Revd Professor Andrew Davison, Oxford Regius Professor of Divinity; Dr Cosima Gillhammer, Fellow in Medieval English at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford; and Michael Gove, Editor of The Spectator. The panel will be chaired by Damian Thompson, presenter of the Holy Smoke podcast.
As a bonus, the first 100 ticket-holders will be granted early access to purchase Spectator Christmas carol service tickets.
